1. To configure your access to Newsguy
on Thunderbird, select the Tools | Account
Settings... option from the main program
window, then click the Add Account... button.
Once the Account Wizard dialog box appears,
check the Newsgroup account option and
click Next to continue.
2. You may be promoted for some basic email
and name information in the next couple of steps.
These are settings Thunderbird will use
when
you post publicly to the newsgroups. You can enter
your personal preferences for those settings,
then select Next to continue.
When you reach the Server
Information step, you will be asked for
the Newsgroup Server which can be entered in
the field provided. Click Next to continue.

3. The last setting Thunderbird would
need is the Account Name or nickname that would
appear on the program's Folder menu. Since you may
have other configurations, such as your Internet
providers setup, you can use the news server
address or simply "Newsguy" so you can
locate it easily. Click Next
when you are ready.

4. When you see the Congratulations
screen you can select the Finish button to save your
Newsguy account configuration. From the main program window,
highlight your Newsguy listing from the Folders pane and
select the Manage newsgroup subscription
link. This would prompt you for your username and
password login settings.

5. Once you have logged in and
downloaded the master newsgroups list from Newsguy,
you can setup your subscribe list.
Tip #1: Within Options | Account
Settings... you can select your Newsguy
configuration and make some preference changes. As
an example you can determine which port number to
use. The default number 119 is setup normally, but
can switch to Newsguy's alternate NNTP port number 8080.
