 Configuring MesNews for Newsguy
  

1. Select Server | New Server from the main program window.

  2. When the Server management dialog appears select the General tab to begin your configuration. Use the following setting for the appropriate field.

Personal account configuration
Address server news.newsguy.com
Port server 119
Local name for server news.newsguy.com
Access through an Internet Service Provider
Address server cnews.newsguy.com
Port server 119
Local name for server cnews.newsguy.com

  3. Select the Authentication tab to enter your login information. Click the Apply button when your settings are added and ready to continue.

Login / Password required Confirm with your ISP if needed
Login Confirm with your ISP if needed

  4. On the Confirmation dialog, choose Yes to retrieve the master Newsguy newsgroup list. 

  5. Once the group list is download, the Newsgroups dialog will allow you to establish your subscribe list. Select the Close button to save your settings.

  6.When you return to the main MesNews program window, the news.newsguy.com server address should now appear under the Server tree. Select the "+" symbol to expand your subscribe list to Newsguy.

Tip #1: From the Server | Server Properties | news.newsguy.com menu, you can launch the Server management dialog box that can be used to adjust your preferences. On the General tab The Port server defaults to 119 but you can use Newsguy's alternate port number 8080.

Tip #2: Mesnews stores its data in its own folder. Because of this is it possible to take it away (e.g. a ZIP drive or an USB key) and let it work on an other machine without writing data into your register or on your hard drive.
