Private & Secure
Email
Connections
NewsGuy
accounts include up
to 5 free email
boxes, and in
consideration of our
members' privacy and
security we support
SSL for POP, IMAP
and SMTP. This
feature allows
members to send and
receive email via a
secure connection.
To take advantage of
this feature, simply
enable the secure
connection
preference within
any SSL compliant
email client. Once
you've enabled this
preference, your
email client will
automatically change
your POP Port to
995, your IMAP Port
to 993, while your
SMTP Port will
remain the same.
Before using
Email+SSL, you
should download and
install NewsGuy's
secure certificate.
To do this, simply
go to
https://acc.newsguy.com/newsguy.crt,
click "Open", select
"Install" and follow
the "Next" prompt to
install the
certificate. This
only needs to be
done once. If you're
receiving a
certificate message
from your mail
client while using
SSL, please follow
the previous
instructions to
download and install
the certificate.
As an
example, if you're
using Outlook
Express for mail, go
to the "Tools >
Accounts" menu and
select the name
associated within
your NewsGuy
mailbox. Click the
"Properties" button,
select the
"Advanced" file tab
and checkmark the
two option boxes
titled "This server
requires a secure
connection (SSL)".
The new port number
will automatically
update within the
POP Port setting
field, and you can
click the "Apply"
button to finalize
your settings
changes.
Please contact our
support staff if
you require further
assistance with this
feature. |
