Reply Message: If you've opened a newsgroup message, and wish to reply to it, this toolbar icon takes you to an area where you can post a reply message. For more information on posting a newsgroup message, please click here.

ReplyTrac (tm): This feature will tag the message that you are viewing and it will send you an email notification when someone posts a reply to that message. This is a great feature for anyone that wants to keep track of interesting newsgroup discussions, without having to monitor a newsgroup on a routine basis. To use this feature, simply click "ReplyTrac (tm)" and select your tracking and notification settings. After you've selected the "ReplyTrac (tm)" option, you may edit or remove those settings from your "Direct Read News Preferences".

Source: If you wished to see the entire header for a particular newsgroup message, "Source" will display all of that information for you, including the NNTP Posting Host, Message ID, and Reference IDs associated with the message. In addition, if a person has posted a multimedia file (photo, video, sound, etc.), the raw binary source for that file will be displayed as well.

Cancel: Have you ever posted a message to the newsgroups that you wanted to take back or remove? "Cancel" will let you remove a message that you've posted to a newsgroup. Simply locate your message within the newsgroups, open the message with Direct Read News, and click "Cancel". Direct Read News will take a few seconds to verify that you posted the initial message, and it will automatically remove the message from the newsgroup at that time.

Content Search: Two powerful search engines have been built into Direct Read News. "Content Search" locates message content within the various newsgroups, and unlike static databases, this realtime search engine retrieves the latest messages posted within Usenet.

Find Groups: Looking for a particular newsgroup? "Find Groups" will help you locate a specific newsgroup or a collection of newsgroups related to a topic of interest. 

Preferences: This area lets your customize the Direct Read News interface to your personal preferences. Subscribe to a collection of your favorite newsgroups, determine how messages will be sorted in your newsgroups, increase/decrease the number of messages you wish to view, create a default signature for your newsgroup messages, and more.

Email: If you currently maintain an active Newsguy Email account, this icon provides direct access to your mailbox via our Direct Read Mail web interface. Newsguy Email accounts may also be accessed through traditional POP clients such as Eudora or Outlook Express.
