Once you've accessed a newsgroup, Direct Read News
displays a link to other groups, which may discuss
a similar topic. In this example, we are inside a
specific newsgroup (alt.binaries.pictures.animals),
and Direct Read News is displaying a link that
would take us to a list of similar newsgroups (alt.binaries.pictures.*).
In this example, if we clicked the link, Direct Read News
would display a list of other "picture"
groups. 11

18 19 20: Depending upon the
newsgroup,
you may find 50,000+ messages within a group that you've
accessed. Large newsgroups will display 50-100
messages per page, and these page numbers will
link you to each message page within a newsgroup.
Pages may be accessed out of sequence, and you may
jump to a specific message page by clicking on a page
number. Once you've arrived on
a particular page, that number will be displayed
in a bold font, and it
will no longer be underlined/linked. next>:
Page numbers are displayed in groups of 10, and if
a newsgroup should have more than 10 message
pages, the "next>" link will allow
you to access those additional pages. In the above
mentioned example, Direct Read News is currently
showing pages 11-20, and if the
"next>" link were clicked, the next
series of message pages (21-30) would be
displayed. <back:
Similar to "next>", the
"<back" link allows you to retrieve
previous message pages that you may have already navigated
through. In the above mentioned example, Direct
Read News is currently showing pages 11-20, and if
the "<back" link were clicked, the
previous series of message pages (1-10) would be
displayed. <start:
Though not shown in this example, the
"<start" link will take you back to
the first page of messages within a newsgroup. |
